Masteroast was the 1st to bring both Fairtade & Rainforest Alliance certified coffees
​to the UK, and the 1st Smithsonian certified UK roaster for 'Bird Friendly' coffees supporting Mesoamerican forest protection for migratory birds.

We have always believed in taking a holistic approach to sustainability across our business, not just outside but also within. Back in 1986 Masteroast brought the first 'recirculating' Lilla Brazilian coffee roaster to Europe delivering energy efficiency and avoidance of energy consumptive afterburners.

Unrivalled Energy Efficiency

Today, Masteroast operates from our 40,000 square foot, purpose built facility. Our state-of-the-art roasting plant is energy efficient and uses recirculation of heat in production. In fact, Masteroast is the only UK roaster with Catalytic Carbon Capture on its roasters.

Our sustainable approach to Facilities Management spans everything from solar electricity generation, LED lighting to progressive waste management strategies and the re-use of heat across our site.

Investing In The Environment

Masteroast is proud to be a UK industry leader in recyclable packaging, pioneering and investing in a wide range of sustainable packaging solutions including PE/PP recyclables, recycled and recyclable boxes, tins and even coffee capsules that can be domestically recycled!
In addition, we recycle all our coffee sacks and re-use waste packaging as shipment packing material.

Masteroast is accredited in the 'Investors in the Environment' scheme - a national environmental accreditation initiative that helps organisations reduce their impact on the environment.

With the increased awareness of the social, economic and environmental facets of coffee production, sustainability initiatives, including certification are becoming ever more significant. Masteroast works closely with recognised certification bodies to help ensure that our soil stays in great condition, farmers are paid fairly for their work and that the lungs of the earth are protected.
